Everyday life is a window into a wider picture. Large scale events simply cannot occur without the occurrence of local, smaller scale actions of individuals. Everyday life is also a reflection of relationships between an individual and society. We perceive our daily lives as that which is private to us, personal, and perhaps even mundane and repetitive. From a sociological perspective, C. Wright Mills argues that one must relate “private troubles” to “public issues” - to look for the social patterns reflected in the lives of individuals.

Tissues are one of the most common items I use throughout the day, and here I have used them to capture the details of my everyday life. I recorded 7 days of my life by documenting tissues that I had used during that period. Most of them are repetitive, unremarkable, and are a record of the mundane, but they represent the rhythm of daily life. Not only did I unveil some of my own daily habits, but I also started to think about the reasons behind these habits and behaviours. These small, "insignificant" actions are actually far more significant than we might think. They do not simply exist on an individual basis, rather they exist in a complex, larger picture that is rooted in who we are as a person.
